Specific Knowledge Stack

A playbook for turning curiosity into a founder edge.

Steps

  1. Inventory obsessions. List topics that feel like play to you but work to others.
  2. Find market contact. Identify where those obsessions intersect with painful customer problems or valuable outcomes.
  3. Practice in public or with customers. Specific knowledge needs feedback, not private theory.
  4. Add complementary skills. Pair domain insight with selling, building, writing, coding, operations, design, or AI automation.
  5. Take accountability. Put your name or company reputation behind the judgment.
  6. Productize the edge. Convert repeated judgment into product, workflow, content, training, software, or service systems.
  7. Compound. Keep the loop alive: curiosity → practice → feedback → reputation → leverage.

Anti-patterns

  • Learning only what a curriculum says is employable.
  • Copying competitors without understanding your own edge.
  • Hiding judgment behind committees or anonymous execution.
  • Building skills that are easy to train, outsource, or automate without adding unique taste.
